MDLBeast Balad Beast Music Festival

Role: Video Producer, Videographer, Video Editor, Photographer

MDLBeast came to TAIT to produce the inaugural Balad Beast Music Festival in Jeddah, nestled within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To document this project, TAIT sent a crew to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to capture the 2-day music festival and produce a series of videos that would be used for TAIT& MDLBeast external marketing purposes. The festival featured headline acts like Busta Rhymes, Lupe Fiasco, Major Lazer, and many more across 5 stages.

Scope Breakdown

As the Video Producer on this project I was responsible for collaborating with TAIT leadership to develop a capture plan for this festival. Not only were we on the ground for this project, but also for several other events happening at the same time. It was a delicate balance of managing resources across different venues, in close collaboration with marketing, the client, and the various project teams.

The plan called for extensive coverage of the event including interviews, behind the scenes, and festival footage over the span of one week. Afterwards, I collaborated with key stakeholders to edit and produce a 2-minute case study video that would be submitted for awards campaigns (and ultimately go on to win Telly Awards for Cinematography, Writing, and Editing).

Additionally, our team deployed several other assets to assist in the storytelling and amplify the project as award wins came in. I produced and edited a 60-second sizzle reel for socials, a 4-minute project highlight, and various 90-second profiles on people who worked on the event’s production, which would become part of a series called PEEPS In Production. I also reframed all content for specific platforms (vertical, square, horizontal).

We also supported the campaign with carousel posts that featured hero images that myself and two other photographers captured from the festival and social posts that showcased the specific award wins.
